Raymond C. Nelson, 88, a Gardnerville resident for the past 12 years, died March 6, 2004, in Carson City. He was born May 30, 1915, in Minneapolis to Henry and Cecelia Nelson.

He attended schools in Minnesota and California

Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Napa, Calif.; Brookings, Ore.; International Falls, Minn.; and Sonora, Calif.

Mr. Nelson was a machinist, retiring in 1978. He was a Lutheran.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Edith Golach and Amy Steele.

Among his survivors are his wife, Anna; son, Curtis of Woodfords; daughters Christine Holzhauser of Sonora and Carol Bowman of Pioneer, Calif.; grandsons David Holzhauser and Aaron Nelson; granddaughters Kendall Nelson and Dana Holzhauser; and two great-grandsons.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
