A memorial service for Lucille E. Petty, 92, a Carson City resident since 1941, will be Friday at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Carson City.

Mrs. Petty died Aug. 27, 2006, in Carson City.

She was born Sept. 1, 1913, in Illinois to Paul and Ruth Emmert.

She married Dr. Richard A. Petty in 1937 in LaPorte, Ind.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in 1932. She was a member of the Washoe County and Nevada State Medical Auxiliary, a past president of the state and local P.T.A., past president of C.D.M.A., national chairwoman of A.M.A.E.R.F., a member of Eastern Star and the Mark Twain Garden Club in Carson City. She was active in Girl Scouts and was a longtime volunteer at Carson-Tahoe Hospital and other medical facilities. She enjoyed family and friends and outdoor activities including hiking, golfing, and skiing, and took classes at WNCC until she was 81. She also enjoyed playing bridge.

Before moving to Carson City, she and her husband lived in San Francisco.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

She is survived by her husband; daughters and sons-in-law Beverly J. and Donald Davenport of Carson City and Patricia and John Geiger of The Dalles, Ore.; sister Helen Shires of Iowa City, Iowa; brothers Harold R. Emmert of Portland, Ore., and Paul E. Emmert of Mendota, Ill.; grandson, Richard Davenport and his wife Nicole of Carson City; great-granddaughter Shalece Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
