A memorial service with full military honors for Victor Ruben Smith, 56, a Silver Springs resident, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley. A reception will follow at 9802 Dixon Lane, in Reno.

Mr. Smith died Dec. 12, 2006, at his home in Silver Springs. He was born April 18, 1950, in Douglas, Wyo., to Manley and Katherine Smith.

Before moving to Nevada 15 years ago, Mr. Smith lived in Wyoming.

He was an airline mechanic.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He belonged to numerous veterans groups.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Kathy Rowen.

Among his survivors are his brothers Marvin Smith and Lance Coe; sisters Lyn Austin, Shana Coe and Lonita Clark; eight nieces and one nephew.

Truckee Meadows Cremation and Burial Society in Reno is in charge of arrangements.
