John Farley Connelly, 87, a three-month Carson City resident, died Dec. 22, 2006.

Mr. Connelly was born Jan. 22, 1919, in Long Beach, Calif., to Oscar Connelly and Iva Farley Connelly.

He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1937.

He married Marjorie Padgett on Nov. 2, 1942, in Vancouver, Wash.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Connelly lived in Klamath Falls, Ore., since 1981.

He had worked for the Pasadena Star News and later Pacific Telephone and Telegraph for 36 years before his retirement in 1980.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific theater.

He was a member of the Lion's Club in Klamath Falls, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1383 in Klamath Falls and was the past president of the Associated Square Dancers of America. He was a Methodist.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; daughters Jackie Gordon of Carson City, Sue Connelly of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Maureen Lohrbach of Anaheim, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
