Carson City


Man in serious condition after being hit by car


The Nevada Highway Patrol continues to investigate an accident involving a car and a pedestrian Thursday night on Curry Street behind the Carson Station Casino.


At 5:57 p.m. Thursday an Acura Integra driven by Somtay Dadabseng of Carson City, was northbound on Curry Street when it struck a pedestrian, identified as Thomas Morrison of Carson City.


Morrison was attempting to cross Curry Street in an area not marked for pedestrian crossing.


Morrison traveled head first onto the hood and into the front windshield of the vehicle before coming to rest on the street.


He sustained serious injuries from the accident, according to Nevada Highway Patrol dispatch.


The Nevada Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation and is asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact troopers at 688-2500.




Fernley


Sparks man dies in head-on collision


A 54-year-old Sparks man is dead following a head-on collision at 7:35 a.m. Saturday on Highway 50 Alternate in Fernley.


The man was driving a 1998 Jeep eastbound on Highway 50 Alternate in Fernley. Nicholas L. Miscione, 32, of Fernley, was driving a Chevy SUV westbound when the Jeep swerved in front of his vehicle and struck the front of the Chevy.


The vehicles came to rest blocking the highway.


The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.


Miscione was taken by ambulance to Washoe Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later released.


Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
