Investigators are seeking an expert opinion in the autopsy of a Carson City baby who died of a skull fracture.

An out-of-state pathologist who specializes in child abuse trauma will take a look at the findings from the autopsy of Tyrone Anderson, said Carson City Sheriff's Detective Dena Lacy.

"We're consulting with experts because the information we've received does not match the injuries on the baby," Lacy said.

Tyrone was found dead in his crib at his family's apartment in South Carson City on the morning of April 20.

According to court documents, the parents told police the 7-month-old fell 2 feet from their bed the previous evening. An autopsy revealed Tyrone suffered a "4-inch depressed fracture on the left side of the head," and likely died from a brain bleed. It is the pathologist's opinion that "severe blunt-force trauma was the direct cause of the fracture," the court records state.

Pathologist Cathy Raven said a "simple fall" from a bed would not have caused the fracture. Tyrone did not have any bruising on the scalp near the injury.

Lacy said that, during a second search of the apartment on Friday, investigators took carpeting from the floor where Tyrone allegedly fell, bedding and the boy's clothing.

Anyone having information relating to the death of Tyrone is asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or 887-2020 ext. 1406. All calls will remain anonymous.

A reward of $2,500 is offered for information leading to an arrest and prosecution.
