A memorial service for Alma Ruth Franklin, 84, a Carson City resident for more than 50 years, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Franklin died May 9, 2006, at the Evergreen Healthcare Center in Carson City. She was born July 9, 1922, in Cairo, Ill., to Paul L. Lamburth and Irma Childress.

She married William W. Franklin on July 17, 1993.

She spent two years in college.

Mrs. Franklin worked in the civil service for more than 20 years.

She belonged to the Eastern Star, White Shrine, the Methodist Church, and was a volunteer at the hospital.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry N. Peck, in April 1982 in Carson City.

Among her survivors are her husband of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law. Ruth Ann Peck Wood and Douglas Wood of Castle Rock, Colo.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous extended-family members.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
