A memorial service for Neil R. MacDonald, 81, a 22-year Carson City resident, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. MacDonald died Nov. 12, 2006, in Carson City. He was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Bad Axe, Mich., to John Alger and Mary Ellen MacDonald.

He married Doris MacDonald in 1987 in Alpine County, Calif.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. MacDonald lived in Spokane, Wash., for 18 years.

He graduated from the Clayton School of Natural Healing, where he received a doctorate in naturopathy.

He owned Lifestream Natural Health Food Store in Carson City and ran a bimonthly newsletter.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He enjoyed traveling, swimming, and playing golf and tennis.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Among his survivors are his wife, of Carson City; son Dr. Steven MacDonald of Pacific Grove, Calif.; daughters Catherine MacDonald of Spokane, Patricia Hart of Otis Orchards, Wash., and Jody J. Johnson of Reno; sister Helen Simmons of Cheboygan, Mich.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial will take place in Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
