Carson girls soccer shuts out Wooster

With first wrapped up in the Sierra League, the Carson High girls soccer team continued to look to finish the regular season strong with a 5-0 win over Wooster on Saturday at CHS.

Carson (11-2-2, 11-0-2) will finish the regular season on Tuesday at Reno High. "We're excited to get into the game with Reno and see how it goes," Carson coach Randy Roser said.

The Senators scored two goals in the first nine minutes to take control against Wooster. Brandi Vega scored on an assist from Kristin Rush in the first four minutes and then Kayla Sanchez scored on an assist from Becca Kane. Helaine Berris scored and Ann Sinnott scored on an assist from Sanchez to finish the scoring in the first half, giving Carson a 4-0 halftime lead.

Brenda Luquin scored off of her own rebound to finish the scoring. She sent a shot off the goalie's chest and then followed up to score.

Jennifer Johnson and Carly Mathat combined in goal to post the shutout.

"We played really well," Roser said.
