A funeral service for Floyd R. Hampton, 66, a Carson City resident since 1999, will be at 1 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St. Burial will take place Monday at Davis Cemetery in Davis, Calif.

Mr. Hampton died Sept. 25, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. He was born June 28, 1940, in Paragould, Ark., to Willie Hampton and Margie Tate.

Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Hampton lived at South Lake Tahoe for 16 years.

He was a high school graduate and had attended four years of higher education.

He was a business manager for Alpine County School District and had served in the U.S. Air Force for three years.

He enjoyed movies, music and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, in 1989.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Tamara Hampton of Sacramento; son Fred Hampton of Carson City; daughters Veronica and Jennifer Hampton of Atlanta; daughter-in-law Robin Warren; sisters Dorothy Slatton of Arkansas, Dora Weiss of St. Louis, Betty Folkner and Laura Carter of Atwater, Calif., Thelma Dingler of Arizona and Wanda Doss of Visalia, Calif.; brothers Bill Hampton of Southern California, Granville Hampton of Detroit, Avery Hampton of Barstow, Calif., and Wilbur Hampton of Visalia, Calif.; and one grandson.

A visitation was held from 5 - 8 p.m. Sept. 28 at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
