Wayne "Reed" Yohn

Wayne "Reed" Yohn died Sunday evening, Dec. 9, 2007 at UC Davis Burn Center from injuries obtained in an apartment fire. He was 48 years old.

Reed was born Wayne Reed Yohn II in Hartford, Conn. to David Waite Yohn and Nancy Lou Walker. Reed lost his sister at age 6 to bone cancer and lived with his father in Boston and Cape Cod. Reed attended high school at Moses Brown in Providence R.I. where he played lacrosse, rugby and ice hockey. Upon graduating, he moved to California where he worked as a security guard, machinist, and then began his career in Quality Control. His daughter, Cassi Yohn, was born and he moved to Carson City, Nevada. He most recently worked at Micromanipulator in Carson City.

Reed was a member of The Carson City First United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School, was on the Christian Ed Committee and provided children's programs for many evening and special functions. He was a trained "Godly Play" teacher. Reed served on the AYSO board and was a Division Coordinator. He earned his "D" coaching license through United States Youth Soccer and coached recreational soccer for AYSO and competitive soccer for Great Basin Youth Soccer league. He also was a Girl Scout Leader. He was a devoted father and a loyal friend.

Reed is preceded in death by his sister and mother.

He is survived by his daughter, father and stepmother Craig Yohn of Florida.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Carson-Tahoe Cancer Resource Center or United Methodist Youth Programs. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church Dec. 17 at 4 p.m.
