Carol Ann Smales, 72, a 62-year Carson City resident, died July 20, 2007, at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
She was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Burbank, Calif., to Joseph Linford and Dorothy Ziegler. Mrs. Smales was retired from the Nevada National Guard after 39 years.
She enjoyed sports, playing pool, reading and spending time with her grandson.
Among her survivors are son Donald Smales; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Marvin Brown; and grandsons Michael and Daniel.
Services for Mrs. Smales will be at a later date.
Truckee Meadows Cremation and Burial is in charge of arrangements.
