There will be a groundbreaking ceremony for Jet Ranch at the Carson City Airport at 11 a.m. Wednesday. A reception will follow in Hangar Nine.

The Jet Ranch is a design-built, 82,400-square-foot facility on 3.3 acres at the east end of the airport.

The 12-building complex will feature a customized private aircraft hangar and 11 for lease or rent aircraft hangar facilities, and is valued at $8.5 million. Upon completion, Jet Ranch will be the largest private-aircraft facility built to date in Nevada. Completion is scheduled for March 15.

Assisted-living sales director hired

Sierra Place Retirement and Assisted Living Community has hired Jennifer Wallis as director of sales and marketing. Her primary responsibility will be to manage sales and marketing activities, including new-resident relations and admissions, public outreach, professional relations, sales presentations and advertising.

"We are lucky to have someone of Jennifer's background and experience come on-board," said Gregory Klick, executive director of Sierra Place. "We feel her experience and skills will enhance the recognition and reputation of our facility in the region."

Wallis graduated from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with an emphasis on public relations.

She has eight years of experience in the high-end hospitality and retail industries, including management positions with the Atlantis Casino, Resort and Spa in Reno; the Crown Plaza Hotel in Foster City, Calif.; and Nordstrom in Redondo Beach, Calif.

Recruiters name new branch manager

Hire Dynamics, the largest skilled staffing and professional recruitment company in Northern Nevada that provides work force talent to businesses in and around Carson City and the Carson Valley, has promoted Emily Ellison, CSP, as the branch manager in Carson City.

Ellison will be based in the Carson City office and report to the regional manager in Las Vegas.

Good-deed doer sought by theater

In celebration of the forthcoming Universal Pictures comedy "Evan Almighty,' Hollywood Theaters will recognize a resident of Carson City for his or her good deeds.

The promotion was announced by Heather Wright, vice president of Hollywood Theaters, who said: "We are excited to reward the public for performing acts of random kindness and encourage the community to participate by nominating deserving individuals."

Nomination forms are at the Northgate Cinemas theater box office. A drawing will be Thursday to determine the winner, who will receive 52 movie passes (or a season's worth of admissions) to Hollywood Theaters. The person who nominates the winner will receive an "Evan Almighty" prize pack from Universal Pictures.

Young professionals sought for rotary exchange program

Minden Rotary is looking for young business and professional men and women who are interested in a cultural and learning experience through Group Study Exchange.

GSE is a program of the Rotary Foundation providing a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women between the ages of 25 and 40.

Travel grants are provided for teams to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. Team members experience the host countries' institutions and ways of life for four to six weeks and observe their vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas.

Travel expenses are covered by the Rotary Foundation and the host area Rotary Clubs. Membership in Rotary is not a prerequisite to participate. Travel for the GSE for next year will be to Brazil from April 7 to May 7. Pet Network chooses board members

Pet Network Animal Friends, a nonprofit animal rescue and adoption organization, announces the election of board members Linda Dierks and Paul Laxalt.

Dierks is vice president of the Saint Mary's Foundation in Reno. She has been in fundraising and development for most of her career, principally with universities, including the University of Nevada. She was previously associated with Pet Network as a board member during the early years of its formation.

Laxalt is executive director of the Saint Mary's Foundation. He has a passion for fundraising and has devoted most of his career to nonprofit organizations.

He was raised at Lake Tahoe and educated in Incline Village. Laxalt is a member of several other nonprofit boards and active in many community programs.
