Ten Northern Nevada high school players have been named to the 2008 McDonald's All-American Watch List.

Among the local players named to the list for the boys are Galena's Luke Babbitt and Douglas High's Jeff Nady and for the girls, Galena's Langley Iverson. Others named to the list for the boys were Reno High's Olek Czyz, North Valleys Jessy Bajwa and Elko's Stephen Klekas and for the girls, Elko's Taylor Altenburg, Reno's Raimy Novacek, Manogue's Taylor Sylvester and Reed's Kayla Williams.

The 10 players are eligible to be selected as McDonald's All-Americans for the 2008 McDonald's All-American Game to be held March 26 in Milwaukee. Twenty players - 10 from the West and 10 from the East - are selected for the boys and girls games.

The McDonald's All-Americans are scheduled to be chosen later this month or early in February.

It figures that Babbitt, who has signed to play with Nevada, has an excellent chance to be named as a McDonald's All-American as he is one of the nation's top players. Czyz, who will play for Duke, is also an excellent candidate as he has also been listed among the nation's top 100 players.
