Carson City investigators are seeking three South Lake Tahoe women suspected of passing fraudulent checks at local casinos.

Detective Bob Motamenpour said Annamarie Wyatt, 33; Jessica McKercher, 30; and Catherine McIntyre, age unknown, are suspected of stealing mail from Carson City and Lake Tahoe mailboxes, searching for checks with account numbers, and creating counterfeit checks using those account numbers.

"What they have been doing is manufacturing checks to businesses and cashing the checks, either at banks or casinos," said Motamenpour. "They've been doing it for about a month or so."

Thus far, the checks have been made to look like paychecks from Carson sandwich shops or motels and have been written to Wyatt, Kercher and McIntyre in amounts between $500 and $1,000.

A fourth woman was captured on video surveillance at a Carson City casino cashing a similar check, but her identity is unknown.

Motamenpour said the Reno postal inspector is investigating the mail thefts and Washoe County has had previous fraud dealings with McKercher of a similar nature.

McKercher is described as 5-feet-2-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. Wyatt is described as 5-feet-4-inches tall, weighing 125 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. A description for McIntyre was not available other than that she has longer blond hair and is in her early 30s.

Anyone with information on McKercher, Wyatt or McIntyre or the identify of the unknown woman is asked to call Motamenpour at 887-2020 ext. 41406.
