Dr. Edwynn Edgar Schroeder

Our husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Dr. Edwynn Edgar Schroeder passed away Nov. 16, 2008 at his home in Carson City. He was 77 years old.

Born Dec. 2, 1930 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Herbert Joseph and Faye Schroeder. Moved to Carson City five and a half years ago, from Camarillo, Calif. Graduated from the University of Southern California (1952) in Zoology; from University of Pacific School of Dentistry (DDS); and from University of Southern California School of Orthodontics (MS). Dr. Schroeder was an orthodontist from 1962 until his retirement. He was a well-respected practioner by his patients and his peers. He also taught at USC and worked for L.A.U.S.D. educating students on proper dental hygiene.

Dr. Schroeder was a member of the American Dental Association, a USC Alumni, member of American Board of Diplomats and member of San Fernando Dental Society. He enjoyed playing golf, motorhoming, painting, boating, playing the piano and traveling. Dr. Schroeder was a veteran of the U.S. Army medical corps stationed in Berlin, Germany.

Dr. Schroeder is survived by his wife, Marla of Carson City. They were married Dec. 30, 1975 in Solvang, Calif.

Son Neil Nelson Schroeder and his wife Sandra of Camarillo; daughter Leslie Louise Grandclaudon, her husband Patrick of Granada Hills; son, Samuel George Schroeder and his wife Lani of Camarillo; daughter Tarah Rose Schroeder and her partner Stacey Simms of Denver, Colo.; brother Herbert Joseph Schroeder of Sacramento and sisters Peggy Taylor of Ventura, Marvel Foy of Laguna Beach, Diane Carver of Sacramento; grandchildren, Krystal Lynn, Sarah M. Rose, Raymond-Jean, Annaliese J. Faye, Kathryn M. Lin, Megan Maile and Erin Aiko and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

A funeral service will be noon, Wednesday at Walton's Chapel. Burial will follow at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dr. Schroeder's honor to the USC Orthodontics School, 925 W. 34th St., Los Angeles, CA 90089-0641 or the University of Pacific School of Dentistry, 2155 Webster, San Francisco, CA 94115.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley has been entrusted with his final arrangements.
