The Carson City Foster Home Support and Recruitment Coalition's Annual St. Nicholas Day gift card party is 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday during the open house at Comma Coffee in Carson City (across from the Legislature on Carson St.)
Bring a gift card from a store or make a cash contribution that will be used to purchase gift cards for foster parents to use for incidental needs of their foster children. It's a way to say thank you to foster parents for caring for abused and neglected children.
The party, hosted by Jenny Scanland, features beer and wine and live entertainment.
Checks should be made out to CASA of Carson City and marked in the lower left corner "for gift cards."
The coalition, which has other programs for foster children, meets the third Wednesday of each month at noon at the Carson City Juvenile Court. More help is always welcome. For more information on the coalition, e-mail casaofcc@earthlink
