Gift card party planned for foster children

Come to a party and give a gift card to Carson City's foster kids.

The party will be from

5-6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the San Rafael Coffee Company, 711 S. Carson St. #3, Carson City.

Admission is one or more pre-loaded gift cards from a favorite retailer or card provider kids would enjoy, in any denomination - $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 or more. Participants may consider asking the retailer to donate the cards to CASA.

The card party includes freshly roasted coffee and tasty pastries while listening to live entertainment by local musician Keith Barnett.

"With the economy such as it is, and various other factors, there are more and more Carson City children coming into state custody due to abuse or neglect," said CASA spokeswoman Chrissi Barnett.

"CASA provides the gift cards to these children in foster care to help fund the extra things such as school, performance, and sports supplies that are so important in their lives. We have run completely out of gift cards and need your help," she said.
