Patchy fog with rain showers today

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:25 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

SR88 " Chains required except 4-wheel drive vehicles for 19 miles between Silver Lake and SR89 at Picketts Junction, Calif.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 6.1 miles between 6.5 miles north of SR28 and 11.9 miles south of US 395.

Today's weather for the Carson City area will be have patchy dense fog in the morning with visibility one-quarter mile or less at times. Rain in the morning and afternoon. Highs 44-54 with light winds.

Tonight, rain and snow with snow level at 8000 feet; accumulation up to 6 inches. Lows 26-36 with south winds up to 10 mph.

Saturday, cloudy with a chance of showers with snow level around 6500 feet. Highs 42-52 with southwest winds around 10 mph.

Sunday, chance of showers in the morning with showers likely in the afternoon. Snow level between 4500-5000 feet falling to the valley floor in the afternoon. Highs 36-46 with southwest winds around 10 mph.

Utility work is being done on Little Lane between Saliman Road and Roop Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane east and west of South Roop Street. Alternate routes of travel are Fairview Drive to the south and East Fifth Street to the north.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, east and west side of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays. There is continued work on Fairview Drive from South Edmonds to South Carson Street with lane closures and possible delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
