Snow, rain mix in Carson City forecast

Weather for the Carson City area today will be breezy with snow and rain with snow level 4500 to 4800 feet and accumulation up to 3 inches above 5000 feet. Highs 39-49 with southwest winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight, Snow with accumulation of 3 to 5 inches with 5 to 8 inches above 5000 feet. Lows 21-31 with southwest winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Wednesday, snow in the morning then snow showers in the afternoon with accumulation up to 2 inches. Highs 36-46 with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:42 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Highway 395 " Snowtires or chains required from East Lake Boulevard to Winters Ranch in Washoe Valley. High wind advisory for campers and trailers in Washoe Valley, vehicles not advised.

Highway 50 " Chains or snowtires required except on 4-wheel-drive vehicles from .7 miles east of the California state line to junction Highway 395 in south Carson City.

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for 4-wheel-drive vehicles between Nyack, and .9 miles west of Hirschdale Road, Calif.

Utility work continues on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
