Snow overnight in Carson City area; road controls in effect

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:31 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Highway 395 " High wind warning in Washoe Valley: Campers and trailers not advised for 6 miles between East Lake Boulevard and Winters Ranch.

Snowtires or chains required for 0.1 miles between Winters Ranch and 1.6 miles south of Chocolate Factory.

Highway 50 " Snowtires or chains required for 21.1 miles between .7 miles east of the California-Nevada state line and .4 miles west of junction Highway 395 at south Carson City.

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for 4-wheel drive vehicles for 50 miles between Baxter and Floriston, Calif.

SR 341 " Snowtires or chains required for 14.4 miles between Highway 50 in Mound House and 7.7 miles south of Highway 395, bottom of Geiger Grade.

SR 342 " Snowtires or chains required for 3.8 miles between SR 341 at Silver City and SR 341 at Virginia City.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 18.7 miles between SR 28 and 5.8 miles south of Highway 395.

Utility work is being done on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays. There is continued work on Fairview Drive from South Edmonds to South Carson Street with lane closures and possible delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.

Weather for the Carson City area for Wednesday will be cloudy with scattered showers with highs 32-42 with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the morning.

Tonight, snow with accumulation up to 3 inches, mainly on the foothills. Lows 15-25 mph southwest winds 10-15 mph in the evening becoming light.

Thursday, partly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers in the morning. Highs 32-42 with west winds around 10 mph.
