Few road controls; mostly sunny in Carson City today

Weather for the Carson City area today will be partly cloudy with highs 38-48 with light winds becoming southwest around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, cloudy with isolated snow showers. Lows 18-28 with west winds 10-15 mph.

Friday, cloudy with scattered snow showers. Highs 34-44 with northwest winds 10-20 mph.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:42 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Highway 50 " Snowtires or chains required for 11 miles between 10.6 miles east of Kyburz and 4.1 miles west of junction SR 89.

SR 89" Closed due to avalanche control for 7.7 miles between 2.8 miles north of Highway 50 and Bliss State Park.

Snowtires or chains required for 2 miles between Bliss State Park and 2 miles north of Bliss State Park.

SR 88 " Chains required except for 4-wheel-rive vehicles for 19.8 miles between 4.4 miles east of Hams Station and Kirkwood, Calif.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 6.1 miles between 6.5 miles north of junction SR 28 and 11.9 miles south of Highway 395.

Utility work continues on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
