Carson City Health Department's food-service inspections through April 30 (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations):

- Decades Bar, 1475 Hot Springs Road No. 6, bar/lounge, scored 94 points. Ice that is intended for human consumption is used for cooling stored food. Food contact surfaces of equipment or utensils are not clean. Food contact surfaces of equipment or utensils are not clean.

- Safeway No. 2247, 2035 N. Carson St., deli department, scored 94 points. Hand washing sinks are not convenient or accessible. Found handwashing sink blocked by a plate of partially eaten food. There also were no paper towels in the dispenser. Cloths used on food contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual, or are not used properly. Be sure to wash, rinse, then sanitize food prep surfaces properly (in the proper order). Observed staff wiping down slicers with a sanitizer cloth without first washing the food debris. The sanitizer must be applied after the surface has been cleaned and with a clean cloth or sprayed on and left to air dry. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

- Lifted Cafe, 2201 W. College Parkway, restaurant, scored 97 points. A small cup is being used to dispense salsa from a large container. There is no hand soap at the cook's hand sink. The facility has been serving food for 1.5 hours. No handwashing by staff was observed during this inspection.

- Ed's Doghouse, 3300 Airport Road, bar/lounge, scored 95 points. Ice that is intended for human consumption is used for cooling stored food. Found canned drinks stored in the customer ice/bin. Bartender failed to wash hands before removing the cans from the ice (the ice is now contaminated and shall be discarded). Be sure that the ice scoop is stored "handle up" in the ice or in a food grade container that is washed daily. Food contact surfaces of equipment or utensils are not clean. The speed gun holder is dirty. Clean by washing, rinsing and sanitizing the holder and the speed gun nozzle daily. Floors are not clean. The floor sink under the back bar is full of debris. There is debris on the floor under the front bar.

- Economy Wash 'N Dry, 207 Hot Springs, convenience store, scored 100 points.

- El Aguila Real, 3220 E. Highway 50 No. 6, restaurant, scored 84 points. Found two large containers of salsa in an ice bath with an internal temperature of 51F. Found refried beans in a crock pot with an internal temperature of 122F. Found open pans of shredded cheese at 58-60F. Found the containers of cooked Spanish rice (at the prep/grill area) at a temperature of 122F. Containers of poisonous or toxic materials are improperly labeled or unlabeled. Food removed from original container is not stored in approved container. Cover of container is not impervious or nonabsorbent. Ice scoop is not stored properly.

- Taco Bell No. 3, 4050 S. Carson St., restaurant, scored 100 points. Establishment is clean and well maintained.

- Wendy's No. 4, 4140 S. Carson St., restaurant, scored 96 points. Found the front panel was missing from the ice machine exposing the ice to possible contamination. There was no certified food handler at the time of this inspection.

- Eagle Valley Market, 933 Woodside Drive No. 105, convenience store, scored 96 points. The ice machine chute contained a build-up of scale. A supply of soap and paper towels were not available at the hand sink in the back room next to the ice machine.

- Super Mercado "el Torito," 304 E. Winnie Lane No. 308, meat department, scored 94 points. Peppers were found stored in 5 gallon detergent buckets without lids under the hand wash sink. Food is stored in containers which are not labeled.

- Super Mercado "el Torito," 304 E. Winnie Lane No. 308, bakery, scored 95 points. Improper procedures are used when washing items/utensils in the three compartment sink. Specifically there was no sanitizer in the third compartment. Food was found stored in unlabeled containers.

- Bully's 3530 N. Carson St., bar/lounge, scored 92 points. Containers of poisonous or toxic materials are improperly labeled or are unlabeled. Found glass cleaner stored in a spray bottle labeled "disinfectant." Ice scoop is not stored properly. Found one ice scoop handle laying in contact with the ice. Found another ice scoop stored against a liquor bottle. Food contact surfaces of equipment or utensils are not clean.

- Bully's 3530 N. Carson St., restaurant, scored 93 points. Readily perishable cold food is held above 46F. Found the top layer of cooked, wrapped sandwich meats in the cold drawers under the grills at temperatures of 56-82F. A thermometer laying in the sliced cucumbers containers registered 45F. In-use dispensing utensils are not stored properly. Found a small cup being used to dispense pasta salad. Ice scoop is not stored properly. Found ice scoop stored on the top of the ice machine near the dishwasher. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual or are not used properly.

- Bella Fiore WInes, 224 S. Carson St., No. 8, restaurant, scored 100 points.

- Fruteria California, 1891 E. Long St., retain grocery, scored 97 points. A supply of paper towels is not present at the hand sink. Lights are not properly shielded or protected.

- Silver Dollar Casino, 1897 N. Edmonds Drive, restaurant, scored 95 points. Chlorine residual of less that 50 ppm is detected on dishware after mechanical final rinse. Cloths used on food contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual or are not used properly.

- Sub Factory, 2589 N. Carson St., No. B, restaurant, scored 91 points. Bulk meats and cheeses are held cold at 46F. Facilities for manual dish washing are not properly designed, constructed, maintained, installed, located or operated. Thermometers are needed in some of the cold holding units. Quat test strips are needed to verify a concentration of 200ppm. Quat sanitizer in the three compartment sink and the cloth buckets. Cloths used on food contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual or are not used properly. The ice machine needs to be cleaned more thoroughly. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

- Pizza Hut No. 011662, 2441 N. Carson St., restaurant, scored 95 points. Some pizza mean toppings (cooked chicken and cooked beef) are held cold at or slightly above 45F. Cloths used on food contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual or are not used properly. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

- Hampton Inn and Suites, 10 Hospitality Way, scored 100 points. Establishment is clean and well maintained.

- Holiday Inn Express, 4055 N. Carson St., continental breakfast, scored 98 points. No certified food handler was present at the food operation at the time of this inspection.

- Genghix, 1480 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.
