130 YEARS AGO

Miss Sally Crumripple, a Nevada Street society belle, has just finished a rare design in vines, some seven varieties of creeper on a stove pipe. The stove is decorated with beautiful grass and looks so real, it is inviting even when red hot. A few days ago a young gentleman who called was so impressed he sat down upon it. He will now bear the words: "Parlor Range No. 4" on his person for life, not as a decorative, but of the Vegas iron foundries from where it was made.

100 YEARS AGO

The action of Governor Dickerson has been commended by Governor Kitchen of North Carolina. Dickerson refused Friday a scheme to buy municipal bonds, deemed worthless, that would have put one state against another.

70 YEARS AGO

Plans are underway to install lighting on the football field for baseball. Under the plan submitted by Sierra Pacific Power, the field will be lighted under a "pay as you go" system with lighting for night games as needed.

50 YEARS AGO

Joe Conforte's Triangle Ranch in Storey County is burned to the ground as a public nuisance.

20 YEARS AGO

Carson City officials say they are prepared to evoke eminent domain to secure the land under the V&T shops, but without money in the bank, they're knights without a white horse.

10 YEARS AGO

The century-old Quilici Ranch in Dayton lost its shop today. A fire started before noon and took down the entire ancient wood and tin building.
