Isolated thunderstorms are expected to linger in the region this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

"The greatest threats with these thunderstorms are going to be gusty winds and small hail," said Scott McGuire, a meteorologist with the NWS in Reno. "People need to monitor the forecast and be prepared for thunderstorms. You don't want to get caught in one in that convertible car from 1940."

Rain also is likely with temperatures in the mid-80s and low 50s at night. Gusts of wind may pick up to 50 mph in some of the storms, McGuire said, adding no flash flooding is expected this weekend.

Weekend forecast from the National Weather Service:

• Today: Isolated showers and thunderstorms after

1 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

• Tonight: Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 50. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is
