The Storm: Night before last, a fall of snow set with flakes as big as a postage stamp and came down as straight as a die. The boys hailed the event of a big snow with old time enthusiasm and pedestrians got a merciless pelting. Some boys would rather throw a snowball through a pane of glass than be elected page of the Senate.

100 YEARS AGO

Nevada's population passes eighty thousand. The increase was a 93.4 percent increase over 1900s figures.

70 YEARS AGO

Berkeley Bunker, newly appointed United States Senator from Nevada, will make his first public statement on radio station KENO in Las Vegas. Senator Bunker will be honored at a farewell party at the Latter-day Saints church in Las Vegas. Senator Bunker was a bishop of a Las Vegas Ward.

50 YEARS AGO

County commissioners today announced that city and county jail prisoners will be fed "a lot cheaper" through the county poor farm than through private concessionaires.

20 YEARS AGO

Lyon County may get a state Welfare Department grant to help winterize low income houses.

10 YEARS AGO

Thousands of people were rudely awakened by a series of quakes that hit Tahoe.
