Michael Hohl Automotive will kick off the holiday season keeping animal safety in mind.

Every week 2,500 dogs and 3,200 cats go missing, and Saturday and Sunday residents can stop by Michael Hohl Honda and Michael Hohl Subaru to get their pets' digital identification taken, and possibly adopt a new pet.

Michael Hohl Honda is located at 2800 S. Carson St. and Michael Hohl Subaru is at 2910 S. Carson St.

The weekend program is to aid in the recovery of lost pets. The program, E.A.R.S (Electronic Animal Recovery System) stores four separate photos of a pet along with vital identification information.

The weekend celebration will include a variety of activities for families and pets. Local radio station KBUL FM, The Bull, will broadcast live Saturday from noon to 2 p.m., and Alice 96.5 live Sunday from noon. to 2 p.m.

Demonstrations will be held by the Carson City Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, and education information and adoption possibilities provided by DAWG (Douglas Animal Welfare Group).

"This holiday season we are excited to become involved in animal safety," said Matthew Hohl, general manager of the dealership. "Along with Farmers Insurance, Michael Hohl Honda and Subaru are proud to assist the protection of animals. It's a small way for us to give back to the community."
