A fire in a Dayton trailer park may have claimed the life of an elderly tenant Tuesday.

Central Lyon County Fire Battalion Chief Bob Kielty said crews were called out the Dayton Inn Trailer Park at 70 Highway 50 East in downtown Dayton about 11:42 a.m.

When crews arrived a 32-foot fifth wheel travel trailer was ablaze.

Kielty said several tenants in the park reported the elderly tenant may have been inside and once the fire was extinguished crews were able to enter and found a body.

Kielty said oxygen tanks for the tenant also ignited causing three explosions, but the blaze was contained to the fifth-wheel.

Lyon County Sheriff's Lt. Rob Hall said the Lyon County Sheriff's Office is conducting a coroner's investigation while the State Fire Marshal's Office is handling the fire investigation.

"Right now our main priority is identifying the victim, establishing a cause of death and ruling out any foul play," said Hall.

The name of the victim is pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
