Man faces drug, burglary charges

A 40-year-old Indian Hills man is to appear Jan. 9 in East Fork Justice Court on an allegation of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.Brian Cooper is to be transferred from Douglas County Jail to Carson City where he faces felony burglary charges.He was arrested Oct. 31 in Douglas County on the Carson City warrant, and admitted to deputies he had methamphetamine. Cooper, who has a lengthy criminal record, was recognized by deputies from prior contacts, according to reports.• A 25-year-old Carson City woman was sentenced to 20 days in Douglas County jail after she tested positive for controlled substances in violation of her probation.Brittany Boop admitted that she tested positive for methamphetamine and a drug for which she has a prescription. She also has failed to appear for prior tests.Prosecutor Erik Levin requested that she be jailed “as a consequence of using and violating her probation,” and have her probation reinstated once out of jail.Judge Pro Tem Paul Gilbert sentenced Boop to 20 days, and allowed her to be out of custody Friday to take a scheduled test for her adult diploma and apply for the Carson City Beauty Academy.“You are going to be tested when you come back,” Gilbert said. “Don’t try anything stupid.”Boop was sentenced to 90 days, suspended, last summer for possession of heroin. She also was ordered to pay $200 restitution.
