Chase for points title at Rattlesnake continues

Drivers return to the track today as a points race and Outlaw Karts are the featured events at Rattlesnake Raceway.

Pits open at 3 p.m. and Outlaw Kart racing begins at 6 p.m. with the points races driving off at 7 p.m. The track is hosting American Hero Night, which gives free admission to active or retired military members, Department of Defense contractors, the Fallon Police Department, Fallon/Churchill Fire Department, Churchill County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada Highway Patrol.

Through three races, the chase for the 2013 points championship is heating up.

In the Gen-X class, Mikki Beauchat sits in first place with 111 points followed by Al Bishop (110), Shawn Hartzell (109) and Steve Eisele and Kalie Pope (102).

In the Hobby Stock division, Royce Goetz (113) leads Carl Barlow and Pete Baglin, are tied with 109 after last week’s race. Wes Washburn (105) and Aaron Benham (104) are within striking distance.

Don Childs and Steve Evenson are locked in a close battle in the IMCA track class. Childs holds a one-point lead over Evenson, 109-108, with Mark Skender in third (100).

In the IMCA Northern Sport Mods division, Zachary Cali holds an 11-point lead over Pete Olsen, 118-107. Lee Ketten is third with 106 followed by Steve Foster with 98.

After today’s race, drivers will not hit the track at Rattlesnake until June 3-8 as part of Octane Fest.
