Dayton Community Center hosting free diabetes classes

Tammy Sutton and Jocelyn Lozano, certified community health advocates with Healthy Communities Coalition, will teach a free series of classes about diabetes self management from 9:30 a.m. to noon Fridays starting this week through Oct. 17 at Dayton Community Center, 170 Pike St. Classes began on Sept. 5, but space is available for new registrants.

The course is available in English and Spanish. It was developed at Stanford University and offers anyone living with diabetes, or anyone living with or caring for someone with diabetes, the tools and skills to successfully manage their condition. Topics covered include: healthy eating, physical activity, stress management, meal planning, working with health care providers and reading food labels.
