Swimmers solid at Aqua 5

Facing some of the top swimmers in the North, the Fallon teams held their own during Saturday’s Aqua 5 in South Lake Tahoe.

Kyle Grimes and Christian Nemeth led the boys contigent, while Kaelehn Nemeth, Amber Revels, Katrina Ward and Sierra Bivens were consistent for the Lady Wave.

The Aqua 5 event pits five schools against each other in five individual events. No relay teams swim, while each individual swimmer has another shot to qualify for the regional meet.

Grimes showed why he is a force in the North as the senior nabbed four top 10 finishes including fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.39 seconds). He was also seventh in the 100 free (56.19), eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.62) and 10th in the 100 backstroke (1:09.44).

His lone finish outside the top 10 came in the 100 butterfly where he placed 12th (1:14.97).

Christian Nemeth continued his rapid ascent as the freshman was solid all day. He placed 10th in the 50 free (25.81), 11th in the 100 free (1:01.2) and 100 back (1:12.37), 12th in the 100 breast (1:22.53) and 15th in the 100 fly (1:23.15).

Isaac Kelsey and Ryan Ware also were solid for Fallon.

Kelsey placed 15th (27.60) in the 50 free, 19th (1:06.34) in the 100 free, 17th in the 100 fly (1:33.90) and 21st in the 100 breast (1:42.02).

Ware added 23rd-place finishes in the 100 back (1:45.74) and 100 breast (1:43.44) and was 28th in the 100 free (1:17.87).

As for the Lady Wave, Ward had the best overall finish taking 13th in the 100 fly (1:19.47), while Kaelehn Nemeth cracked the top 15 in the 100 breast (1:33.4) and 100 back (1:21.85), where she placed 14th and 15th, respectively.

Bivens, meanwhile, took 15th in the 50 free (30.63) followed by Nemeth in 18th (30.71) and Revels in 19th (30.75).

In the 100 free, Revels was 17th (1:09.55), Ward 19th (1:10.41), Nemeth 21st (1:10.62), Bivens 26th (1:13.06) and Danielle Brown 27th (1:15.71).

Following Ward in the 100 fly were Revels in 14th (1:19.91), Nemeth in 17th (1:28.91) and Bivens in 19th (1:34.64).

In the 100 back, Ward was 17th (1:22.72) and Josey Moore placed 23rd (1:30.09), while in the 100 breast Revels was 17th (1:36.44) and Ward took 18th (1:37.02).

Fallon returns to the pool on Friday against Incline and North Tahoe at the Incline Pool.
