Chester Marvin Newnham, beloved husband, dad, grandfather and friend passed away on October 28, 2015 in Fallon, NV. He was born September 29, 1927 in Carson City, NV to Chester John and Irene Walker Newnham. Chester was proud of his Nevada lineage coming from one of the earliest settlers in Genoa, NV. He attended schools in Carson City and graduated in 1945. Chester joined the Navy in 1945 and served until 1948. He was a Yoeman second class and received the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal for his service. Chester was also a member of the American Legion. In 1954 he started his career as an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 401 in Reno, NV for 60+ years. In 1963 he married LouDawn Neeley, and they moved to Fallon, NV, where they raised their 6 children. He lost his wife, LouDawn, in June of this year after 52 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elinore Colgrove and Dorothy Judd and son Charles. Chester is survived by his 5 daughters, Christina Curry, Diana Schefcik, Sheryl Fairchild, DeLynn Kirchner and Marva Newnham, 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 1 pm at the Smith’s Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Dr, Fallon, NV. 423-2255. Viewing will precede services at 12:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Fallon Cemetery.
