RSVP will hold its quarterly training session for volunteers and caregivers from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 22. RSVP volunteer training will be hosted at the UNR Cooperative Extension office, 2621 Northgate Lane Suite 12. Interested parties are encouraged to join us for this free training.

Lori Powers, outreach coordinator for Nevada Senior Medicare Patrol, which operates under the State of Nevada, Aging and Disability Services Division, will present, “Are You Smarter than a Scam Artist?” and discuss how Medicare beneficiaries can protect themselves against health care fraud and avoid senior scams.

RSVP’s mission is to help frail, homebound, and low-income seniors remain independent by providing high quality programs which allow them to stay in their own homes with dignity. Additionally, RSVP coordinates a volunteer network of seniors who use their skills and talents to provide support to community agencies and address community needs through service.

The training will also be broadcast to various locations throughout rural Nevada. For information regarding the locations of the training, or if you are interested in learning more about our programs, please contact the RSVP Program Volunteer & Stations Manager, Lauren Jones at (775)687-4680 extension 6.
