Mar. 5, 1926 - Aug. 17, 2015

Patricia Ellen Orcutt succumbed to cancer on August 17, 2015, in northern Nevada. She was born March 5, 1926, to Kenneth and Lucile (Charles) McClernon. Pat was married to Kenneth Orcutt in Hawaii on March 19, 1983, where she had earned various pilots’ licenses and certifications, worked in aviation as an aircraft dealer, corporate and tour pilot, and finally served as an FAA inspector. They lived there until they retired and moved to Dayton, Nevada, in the early 1990s and then to Irvine, California, in 2003. Her husband Ken passed away in early 2012. She and Ken loved their time in Dayton and established the Mary Orcutt Memorial Foundation in 1997, through which more than 15 Dayton High School students have received college scholarships. Pat considered these scholars her children and she and Ken believed the legacy of education was paramount for a successful life. She was a mentor and leading force in every community she touched. She volunteered time to many groups, from the Civil Air Patrol to feeding meals to the homeless. Pat was an accomplished pilot and long-time member of the Ninety-Nines. She will be sorely missed. Per her request, there will be no funeral service and donations in her memory may be made to the Mary Orcutt Memorial Foundation, 2509 Bohr Rd., Carson City, Nevada 89706.
