Silver State gymnasts perform well in season-opening meet

Silver State Gymnastic Academy opened its season two weeks ago in Reno at the Eye Opener Meet.

In the Level 3 Senior Division, Brooklyn Gundy won bars, beam and floor en route to winning all-around honors. Tabby Thompson took third all-around in her first meet and Aubrie Chan took second on floor. Kilah Ezekiel placed third on bars. They won second as a team.

In Level 6 seniors, Eviana McGowan was third on bars and beam and second on floor en route to the all-around title. Elle Liebendorfer won first on bars and beam and Emily Lewis was second on beam and third on floor.

Kiera Windsor won first place on bars and was third in the all around in Level 3 juniors.


Softball sign-ups start Jan. 7

The Carson Valley Girls Softball Association will hold sign-ups Jan. 7, 21, 25 and 28 at the Douglas Community Center.

On Jan. 7, the sign-up is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Jan. 21 and 28th it’s from noon to 2 p.m., and on Jan. 25 it’s from 6 to 8 p.m.

The league is open to girls from 4 to 18. The cost is $85 for ages 4 through 6 and $90 from 7 and up. The family rate is $160. Eligibility is based on age as of Dec. 31.

A $10 discount for those paying on Jan. 7.

Spring sports signups on tap for Jan. 13

Spring sports signups start Jan. 13 for Carson High School. If physicals are needed (every two years), forms can be obtained from the NIAA website, www.niaa.com, under the forms tab or through the athletic office during business hours. Both form B and D are required for registration.
