Kintop appointed head of Library and Archives

Jeff Kintop has been appointed head of Nevada’s Library, Archives and Public Records division.

He has been interim administrator of the division since February and was deputy administrator since July 2009.

“Jeff’s wealth of experience with the division going back to 1983 combined with his demonstrated skills as a manager and forward thinker will be an invaluable asset as we chart a course for the future,” said Patrick Cates, director of the Department of Administration.

Secretary of State warns that ballots are secret

You might think it’s fun to take a cellphone picture of your ballot and post it on Twitter.

Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske says don’t do it because it would be a violation of state law.

The statutory ban, she said, applies both in person and on social media.

People showing someone else their ballot or displaying it in any fashion could be prosecuted for a Category E felony.

She said doing so is considered interference with the conduct of the election.
