A small but highly competitive group from Fallon qualified for the National High School Finals in July after last weekend’s state rodeo at the Churchill County Fairgrounds.

The top four winners in each event move on to the next level at Gillette, Wyo, July 16-23.

Blain Jensen and Jake Cerini came into the Nevada State High School finals as the top team ropers. They won the first and second go’s at the state finals and placed fourth in the short go to win the average. Team ropers Mackay Spyrow and Jordan Taylor came in third at state. Followed by Caleb and Cord Hendrix, the fourth-place finishers.

Sam Goings took second in calf roping to punch his ticket for Wyoming.

Caleb Hendrix captured first place in cutting.

Cord Hendrix placed fourth in saddle bronc and won the Reserve All-Around Boy for the state finals.

Those who came in fifth through 15th qualify for the Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemucca next month

Fallon qualifiers include Leighton Beyer, Matt Goings and Jes Tews.

In the Junior High State Finals at the fairgrounds, Jayden Jensen and Cade Bell from Humboldt are the state finals team-roping champions. The top four winners in each event then advance to the Jr. High National Finals at Lebone, Tenn., later this month. Jensen and Daunte Ceresola took first place in ribbon roping, while Chloe Lambert had two first-place victories in pole bending and goat tying. Ribbon Roping Champions to go on to Tennessee.

Tayler Felton is the Rookie Cowgirl for the year and is going on to Nationals to compete in all of events.
