Carlton Harry “Buck” Walter PhD, age 91, of Carson City, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, March 8th. Buck was born on July 22, 1924 Harry and Gladys (Newhouse) Walter of Willard, Ohio. In World War II, Buck served in Iceland as an Air Force Lieutenant. The “Super Snoopers” monitored weather patterns and enemy communications. At Ohio State University, he earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering, becoming a Professor of Electrical Engineering and finally director of OSU’s famed ElectroScience Lab. He later worked for TRW and as a private contractor, specializing in antennas. Buck was also an author, photographer, sports car enthusiast and avid golfer. He was Deacon in his church and also taught Sunday school. His keen sense of humor and winning smile will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah “Sally” and brother Darl; he is survived by his sister, Shirley Rhodes, son Carl, daughter Laura and grandchildren Marielle, James, Joseph and Nick. His family will hold a private Memorial; donations can be made to a cancer charity in memory of Sally Walter
