A forum offering pro and con presentations on four issues on the November ballot is planned on Friday, Oct. 21 at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. The free event is sponsored by the Good Governance Group of Douglas County.

The forum will cover Question 1 — requiring an unlicensed person who wishes to sell or transfer a firearm to another person to conduct the transfer through a licensed gun dealer in order to run a background check on the receiving person; and Question 2 — legalizing the sale and taxing of marijuana sales for adults, with a stipulation that the tax revenue be used for regulating the business and funding education.

The forum also will cover county ballot measures, including the Indexing of Gas Tax Revenue — a state mandated proposal to index local gasoline taxes over a set period of time to the costs of road maintenance labor and materials — and a Sales Tax Increase to fund Douglas County Schools infrastructure improvements.

Local resident and KKFT-99.1 FM radio station owner, Jerry Evans, will moderate. Attendees can submit questions to the pro and con presenters. More details will be announced as they become known.
