TRACY, Calif. — Lily Bouza scored 18 points to lead the Carson High girls basketball team to a 59-32 win over Silver Creek in the opening round of the Tracy Tournament.

Carson played with just seven players, as Haley Garver didn’t make the trip because of illness and Kirsten Iverson got sick Tuesday night and didn’t play.

“Most of Lily’s baskets were off steals and layups,” Carson coach Melissa Larsen said. “They worked hard.”

Trinity Beard finished with 11, Abby Golik had eight and Abbey Paulson finished with seven. Bella Kordonowy pulled down 11 rebounds.

Sierra Lutheran Wins

SPARKS — Sierra Lutheran came from behind for a 60-51 win over Sparks at the Rail City Classic. Sierra Lutheran led 15-12 after one quarter, but fell behind 32-24 at halftime and trailed 42-36 after three quarters. But the Falcons outscored the Railroaders 29-9 in the fourth quarter to come back for the win.

Zane Warkentin posted a double double with 18 points and 10 rebounds and also had five steals, Logan Shinzing had 16 points and nine rebounds and Kyman Berger posted a double double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

“(We) got off to a slow start (and were) flat footed,” Sierra Lutheran coach Ben Walther said. “Sparks got momentum and used it to their advantage. We got a second wind in the third and were able to cut the deficit and eventually take the lead. (We) got momentum on our side and grew the lead and came out with a hard fought win.”

Sierra Lutheran will play Yerington at 2 p.m. today at Sparks High.
