It won’t surprise any Tiger softball fans to see that the pitcher-catcher duo of Talia Tretton and Ryleigh Blaire were both first team all-region selections when the teams were announced Monday.
Tretton, a freshman, ended her first high school campaign with the fourth most strikeouts in the state of Nevada, per MaxPreps, with 139.

She finished her first season with a 2.46 earned run average.
The Tiger rookie looked anything but at the plate this spring, hitting for a .420 batting average with 16 RBIs, five doubles and three home runs.
Douglas’ leader behind the plate was able to do even more damage at the dish.
With a .460 batting average, Blaire led the Tigers with seven homers and a team-high 20 RBIs.
Blaire ended the season with a .960 slugging percentage.
Douglas’ second pitcher Mackenzie Willis and leadoff hitter Eva McNinch were both honored with second team all-region selections.
In her sophomore campaign, Willis struck out 35 batters in 29 innings while hitting .233.
McNinch collected a team-high 65 plate appearance, where she hit for a .304 average with two doubles and nine RBIs. She successfully stole 9-of-10 bases for the Tigers in her junior campaign.
