Two people had minor injuries after the Cessna 172B airplane landed after experiencing mechanical failure Wednesday night.

The plane landed on the north side of US Highway 50, approximately 4 miles east of the US 50/US 95A intersection in Silver Springs, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

“The aircraft was occupied by two adults, who suffered only minor injuries in what they described as a “controlled landing” after the aircraft suffered a mechanical failure,” a press release said. “Both occupants were provided a ride back to the Silver Springs Airport, where the flight had originated.”

The Federal Aviation Administration, as well as the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
