Local entries for the Lions International Peace Poster Contest are now on display at the Nevada Artists’ Association Gallery, 449 King St., in Carson City.

The gallery is open Tuesday-Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. with entries on display through Nov. 15. The peace poster contest is an international contest that encourages youth ages 11 to 13 to creatively express what peace means to them and share their unique visions with the world.

Posters will be judged on criteria including originality, artistic merit, and expression of the theme, “Lead with Compassion.”

The Carson City Host Lions will present the local contest winner a $50 stipend, and the winner will move up to the Lions’ district level for further competition.

The international grand prize winner will receive a trip to an award ceremony, receive $5,000, and an award. Additional merit award winners will also be selected and each will receive $500.

The Carson City Host Lions Club meets at noon on Tuesdays at Tito’s in Carson City.
