UPDATE:  7 p.m.

At approximately 5:30 P.M. Investigators assisting in the search for Nike Toni” Riess located her at the bottom of a ravine, in the desert approximately a half mile northeast of where her vehicle was located off of Apache Drive in Stagecoach.              

Riess was found conscious and alert; however, she was suffering from injuries related to exposure and required air transport Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV via Care Flight helicopter.                    


Riess’ family has been notified and are en-route to Renown to reunite with her.                  

The Lyon County Sheriffs Office is grateful for all the support from the community, as well as all the effort by the Lyon County Sheriffs Office Investigations Division, Lyon County Search and Rescue, Care Flight, and the Washoe County Sheriffs Office, Regional Aviation Enforcement Unit (RAVEN). 


                                   

    


UPDATE, 4 p.m. April 19, 2023

Investigators with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office obtained surveillance footage of Nike “Toni” Riess leaving the Target on Jacks Valley Road in Douglas County. The photographs show what Riess was wearing on Monday at approximately 7 p.m.

Investigators have learned Riess left her home with two dogs. One dog was located in Riess’ vehicle, the other was located at convenience store in the Stagecoach area. Investigators have also tracked Riess’ movements after leaving the Target and have confirmed she was seen in the Stagecoach area as late as 10:30 p.m. on Monday and spoke with at least one person, telling them she was looking for one of her dogs.

INITIAL STORY

A 30-year-old Stagecoach resident remains missing Wednesday, a day after her vehicle was discovered with “heavy damage” with her dog inside, according to a Lyon County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Tuesday, LCSO received a report that Nike Antonia Riess was last seen and/or heard from Monday evening, the release said. Deputies responded to the area and Riess was entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person.

Riess is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 115 pounds, has blue eyes and brown hair.

Shortly after receiving the initial report, search and rescue and the LCSO technology team began searching the area surrounding Riess’ home. At 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Riess’ vehicle was located, abandoned on a dirt road approximately 2 miles from her home. The vehicle had sustained what was described as “heavy damage.”

Inside the vehicle, search and rescue discovered Riess’ dog and some of her personal belongings. The ground search was shut down at dusk but the technology team continued an aerial search through the night with drones equipped with night vision and thermal sensor technology.

As of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Riess was still missing and the ground search has started again.
