After back-to-back Class 3A state titles, the Douglas High girls golf team has been bumped up to Class 4A this fall.
The classification contains Bishop Manogue, Carson, Damonte Ranch, Galena, McQueen, Reed, Reno and Spanish Springs.
It will be the highest classification in Northern Nevada as there is no Northern Class 5A in girls golf this fall.
The Tigers hosted Reno, Spanish Springs and Galena at Carson Valley Golf Club on Wednesday and pushed their meet winning streak to 16.
As a team, Douglas shot a 364, led by Giana Zinke’s 80.
Madison Frisby and Logan Karwoski posted a 91 and 92, respectively, while Abbigail Detsch entered the clubhouse with a 101.
Reno finished in second as a team with a 403.
Carson High girls golf third at Somersett
The Senators also opened their season Tuesday in Reno at Somersett Golf and Country Club.
Carson put together a team score of 413, finishing third at the meet.
Bishop Manogue won the round with a total score of 331 while Reed was second with a 380.
Kylee Wentz led the Senators with a 98 individual score while Madeline Roberts put together a 99.
Madeline Silsby and Jamie McGee entered their season-opening rounds with scores of 104 and 112, respectively.
Tiger volleyball drops five-setter to McQueen
Douglas High volleyball fell in its first Class 5A North league contest Tuesday to McQueen High, 3-2.
The Lancers took the opening set, 25-20, before the two teams traded the next three sets – 24-26, 25-18, 24-26 – with the Tigers winning the second and the fourth.
The fifth and final set was determined by three points as the Lancers snuck out of Minden with a 15-12 final set.

Hug edges Douglas girls soccer
The Hawks bested Douglas on the Tigers’ home field Tuesday, 4-3, in a non-league matchup.
