• At its Dec. 1 meeting the council unanimously accepted Mayor Ken Tedford’s recommended appointment of Marco Guerrero as the new deputy public works director of electric utilities with an annual salary of $120,000.

Councilman Paul Harmon addressed Tedford, saying that he had talked with Guerrero in the past week and “I feel very comfortable with your nomination.”

Guerrero said he lives in Fallon, but he has commuted for most of his career. He is happy to be working in his hometown. He comes to the city position with 29 years of experience as a lines operations director, 27 of those years with NV Energy in Reno and two years with Liberty Utilities in Lake Tahoe.

The mayor and council extended their collective thanks and appreciation to everyone who worked on preparations for both the Dec. 1 and 2 Christmas tree and Winter Wonderland celebrations including the extensive city decorations and the fireworks display provided by the PyroGuys.
