Although small in numbers, the Greenwave swim team is making big splashes in the first month of the spring season.

Fallon competed in three duals with the boys sweeping the competition while the Lady Wave lost a nail-biter to North Valleys. Last weekend’s dual results against Truckee were not available.

Fallon competes against South Tahoe this weekend in Carson City.

In the opening dual of the season, the Panthers edged Fallon, 102-97.

North Valleys won seven of the 11 events, including a pair that was decided in less than 10 seconds.

Rebecca Smith finished second in the 100-meter free in 1 minute, 14.11 seconds while North Valleys’ Janine Kaiser recorded a time of 1:05.50. North Valleys’ Eva Kaiser and Marian Stanley finished 1-2 over Fallon’s Gracie Cosman with the Panthers swimmers recording times of 1:19.76 and 1:21.91 against Cosman’s 1:23.81.

Fallon, though, still won four events with Evelyn Lott, Evelyn O’Neil and Cosman each winning one and the 200 relay team winning by almost a full minute. The relay team of Jocelyn Miller, Miranda Reeder, Lott and O’Neill won in 2:14.94. Lott also won the 50 free in 33.27, O’Neil won the 200 IM in 2:45.02 and Cosman won the 500 free in 7:06.16.

The boys won easily, 80-17, as the Panthers had only two swimmers competing in two events.

Fallon, though, won both of those events with William McLean finishing first in the 50 free in 33.44 and 100 free in 1:18.59.

Both teams were victorious over Sparks on March 17. The boys won a close race, 74-66, while the girls cruised to a 122-45 win.

For the boys, Zachary Koenig won both the 100 back and 200 IM in 1:02.51 and 2:17.67, Michael Liston won the 100 free in 1:10.71 and Gerik Wassmuth won the 500 free in 6:48.36.

Fallon also took first in the 200 medley relay and 400 relay with times of 2:18.20 and 4:34.69. Both teams consisted of Liston, Koenig, Wassmuth and McLean.

The girls won every event against the Railroaders.

Cosman won the 200 IM in 2:42.32 and 500 free in 6:49.71, O’Neill won the 100 back in 1:15.57 and 100 breast in 1:29.49, Samantha Northrop won the 50 free in 32.27 and Rebecca Smith won the 100 free in 1:14.35.

The 200 medley relay team of Jocylyn Miller, Cosman, O’Neil and Lott won in 2:27.78, and 200 relay team of Lott, O’Neill, Smith and Reeder won in 2:12.12. The 400 relay team of Katelen Helton, Helena Pool, Reeder and Cosman won in 5:27.04.

Fallon raced unopposed against Hug.
