Carson City Symphony begins rehearsals for holiday concert Wednesday

The Carson City Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, will begin rehearsals for the 40th annual Holiday Treat concert from 6:20-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson High School band/orchestra room, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

The traditional festive holiday music includes the Carson Chamber Singers conducted by Gary Schwartz and the Victorian Dancers, choreographed by Tiffany Alm.

The symphony is a volunteer orchestra of about 55 players who perform music from the 15th to the 21st centuries. It is open to string players at any time without audition, and to other instrumentalists when positions are available.

Current openings are for strings, clarinet, bassoon and trumpet. Musicians who are interested in joining should contact the Symphony at 775-883-4154 or email carsoncitysymphony@gmail.com.

Carson Chamber Singers rehearse on Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church, 411 N. Saliman Road in Carson City. It is open to singers high-school age and above. To join, contact the director at ccsingersnv@gmail.com.

The Holiday Treat concert will be on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. Lobby entertainment by the symphony youth chorus will begin at 3 p.m.
