K9 Blue, a member of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, has retired, CCSO said in a news release.

Blue is nearing nine years old and has retired after five years of service. During his tour of duty, Blue deployed more than 600 times and was directly responsible for more than 150 arrests, the release said. He also participated in many public demonstrations, interacting with the community and children in schools and public events, and he recently placed second in agility at the regional K9 event.

Blue was known for being one of the happiest and friendliest K9s, always wearing a big smile, and he loved to be pet, the release said.

“Blue cruises into retirement at home with his handler, Deputy and K9 Trainer Jeff Pullen, where he will get to relax with the family and live in comfort,” the release said.

Pullen will continue to serve as K9 trainer, and he’s just finished training CCSO’s two newest K9 members.
